The audience and four judges jumped to their feet after wheelchair-bound Sattin wowed them with his powerful voice singing With A Little Help From My Friends, during an audition screened on Wednesday night.
Sattin's success means he progresses through to the second round of the competition on PRIME7.
Judge Natalie Bassingthwaighte said to Sattin: "Not many people can sing that song like that and you've just killed it. Wow Micky."
Sattin, 31, a professional singer, is well known in the Illawarra under his stage name Mick On Wheels.
"It was a massive response and I was pretty stoked," Sattin said.
"It was awesome. I thought to myself, 'Wow, this is it and hopefully it will mean the next stage in my career'."
Sattin, who is involved in weekend gigs and works as a vocal coach during the week, said he couldn't have got so far without the support of his parents, Nerrina and Ronni Sattin, and his partner Janine Bishop.
"Janine was the one who encouraged me to go on the X Factor," he said.
"I was comfortable in my career and she gave me that little push to go further."
Sattin was just two days old when he developed meningitis in a hospital maternity ward. Since then he's been unable to move his legs from the knees down.
Sattin now heads to boot camp.
His performance from there will air on Tuesday.
