The Yours and Owls fourth birthday party has been announced, and it's HUGE. To be held in Stuart Park on October 4, the event will be headlined by Dune Rats, The Griswolds and Sticky Fingers, with the likes of Safia, High Tails and Lyall Moloney in support. More bands are to be announced, and will be supported by art and visual projections. Tickets go on sale on August 1.

■ I went along to the Urban Star Talent Quest at City Diggers last Friday night, and what a night of local talent. Along with Glenn Haworth of Haworth Guitars, Anna Chaplin of Chaplin Arts, and Peter Langstaff of Vox FM, we had the hard task of judging and choosing winners of the competition. Some guys who really impressed me included Dylan Wright, a dancer and singer who has been selected to support Lady Gaga in Sydney in August; hip-hop artist Watchmanthr33, who pulled out an amazing freestyle rap and won the Best Stage Presence award; Jessica Allen and her amazing loop pedal-driven rendition of Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People; and eventual second-place winners Bison, a blues duo who put up an incredible acoustic cover of No Diggity by Blackstreet. Bison play around Wollongong regularly, so if you get a chance to see them live, take it.
■ Local legends Harbourer are preparing for their last show. The four-piece punk rockers announced they will be disbanding, saying "This will give each member some time to travel and also focus on our own commitments and lives." The guys will play alongside UK band Basement at Rad on Monday night.
■ Gerringong-born producer Acaddamy has been announced to support The Aston Shuffle in Sydney next month. The Illawarra artist, real name Jordan Brunt, will play alongside Aston on August 14 and 15 at the Oxford Art Factory.
■ Kay Proudlove's tour for new release Finding Words finishes up this weekend at the Heritage Hotel in Bulli. Her latest single, Drunk Girl Vow, has been chosen as a semi-finalist in worldwide songwriting comp Unsigned Only.
■ The Enough Said poetry slam event turns two on July 31. The regular poets' open mic night celebrates the milestone next week with Dave Carter and Philip Wilcox performing at Studio 19 gallery.
■ Don't forget Hockey Dad's tour for new EP Dreamin kicks off in Sydney on August 1, before two shows at Rad on August 3.
