The festival has brought together 26 schools from Helensburgh to Minnamurra, with more than 1400 students participating.
There are six performances between July 22 and July 30 with four schools and 250 students from years 3 to 6 singing each night.
The schools perform 11 combined songs and one individual item.
To celebrate the 60th festival, the students are singing The Ash Grove from the original festival program and are paying tribute to past participants who have had success in the entertainment industry.
Musical director Lynda Murphy said the nights had been full of fun and excitement.
"The festival would not have been so successful without the commitment of the choir teachers and students," Mrs Murphy said.
"The kids' faces shine when they perform and that is why we do it."
Teachers and students told the Illawarra Mercury of their love of singing.
"The festival provides an opportunity for students from different schools and ages to join together and make beautiful music and as a conductor it is good to see the kids love to sing," Mount Ousley Public School conductor Susie Hamers said.
"I like that we can sing as much as we want," Mount Ousley Public's Ambyre Stapleton, 11, added.
