Teen approached by stranger at Port Kembla

Police are appealing for assistance after a man in a car approached a teenager at Port Kembla on Thursday.

The 16-year-old boy was walking on Church Street about 5pm when a silver Holden Captiva with damage to its side pulled over nearby.

The driver spoke to the teenager briefly, then drove away. 

The teenager walked home and reported the incident to police that evening.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command have launched an investigation and would now like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The man is described as having a fair complexion, about 40 years of age, with grey/brown-coloured hair. He is about 175cm tall and of a medium build.
