Ms Meeuwissen has had the support of many businesses in the region, who have helped her raise funds.
She is studying to be a teacher but her modelling career has already got her onto television and in runway shows and complete modelling assignments in other states and overseas.
Ms Meeuwissen is one of 30 young women in the national final, being held in the Hunter Valley.
‘‘As contestants, we have to compete in different activities in which we are judged, and a winner for that activity is chosen and fast-tracked into the top 15 of the national finals,’’ she said.
‘‘These activities include beauty with a purpose, which is about recognising contestants and what they have done for Variety, the children’s charity.’’
There will also be runway parades, a photo shoot, fitness challenges and a talent display.
The crowning ceremony will be held on Sunday night and will be streamed live on the Miss World website.
