Wollongong City won the full set of medals - gold, silver and bronze - among a number of outstanding performances at the annual NSW Little Athletics Cross-Country and Road Walks State Championships at Kembla Joggers' West Dapto home venue.

Kembla Joggers and Albion Park Little Athletics Club co-hosted the championships which featured about 800 athletes from all over NSW, including Coffs Harbour, Bathurst and Tumbarumba.
Mid-winter cold and blustery conditions made it tough on the children and their families but Wollongong City's team of 12 held their heads high with some brilliant efforts.
Samara Jirsa won gold in a field of 41 in the under-8 girls' run, with Jack McClatchie claiming silver in the under-8 boys' race.
Christopher Sink also finished on the podium with a bronze in the under-10 boys' event, while Liam Henderson picked up the club's fourth medal with a third in the boys' under-17s race.
Zoe McClatchie was beaten narrowly for a medal to claim fourth in the under-7 girls, with James Seal also fourth in the boys' under-15s race.
Manuela Piljevic (12th, U8 girls), Keegan Whitton (17th, U8 boys), Tayne Ward (9th, U9 boys), Dechlan Carter (48th, U9 boys), Nathan Henderson Walls (17th, U10 boys) and Daniel Jirsa (16th, U11 boys) all gained valuable experience against the state's best young athletes.
Wollongong City is preparing for another bumper season highlighted by a trip to Leeton in February for the NSW Regional Championships.
Athletics is a great sport for youngsters to keep fit and make new friends, with Wollongong City proud of its family friendly atmosphere.
