National management and delivery practice Johnstaff Projects has been awarded the contract at an estimated value of $160,000, which will come out of the Restart Illawarra Infrastructure fund.
The company is currently the project manager for the design and implementation of the $106 million Wollongong Hospital redevelopment, and was also responsible for the project management of the new Illawarra and Shoalhaven cancer care centres.
It has been involved in a range of health infrastructure projects across the country, as well as major projects such as Queensland's flood reconstruction and the new parallel runway at Brisbane Airport.
Keira MP Ryan Park welcomed the awarding of the contract, which runs to the end of the year.
"I'm certainly glad the project is progressing - the community would like to see this project become a reality as soon as possible," he said.
"This is the firm that will co-ordinate the project and work out who is doing what and when, so the health service and the community will have a better understanding of how long it will take and what the key milestones will be.
"I'm expecting the government will keep a close eye on the project so it is built on time and within budget."
Seven months ago, $14.46 million was allocated to the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District project as part of the $100 million Illawarra infrastructure fund.
"Finally we're starting to see this money trickle through, although we need to see it getting out into the community and into projects a lot quicker," Mr Park said.
IRT will add a further $10 million to the Bulli hospital project in a public-private partnership, to fund the refurbishment of the aged-care centre and supply 60 beds.
