Wes Falconer clinched his first Zone 16 title and qualified for the State play-offs after beating Fairy Meadow's Mark Halsey in the Champion of Club Champion Singles decider at Figtree RSL Bowling Club.
The Towradgi Park bowls co-ordinator overcame a tough draw to win four matches over two days and beat Halsey 31-18 in Sunday's final.
"It's one of my best ever wins," an elated Falconer said.
"Just to win the Towradgi club singles meant a lot with the number of really good players we have and now to win my first Zone title is something I'm really proud to achieve.
"It's great for our club to break through and win a Zone title. We've made a few finals and been thereabouts but haven't quite got over the line, so it's a good day for the club."
Falconer scored a come-from-behind 31-22 win over Woonona's Steve Anger in the semi-finals, while Halsey upset reigning Zone 16 singles champion Brett Pieper 31-21 in his semi.
Falconer edged out Windang's Mark Larsen 31-29 in round two and beat John Ferguson (Albion Park) 31-21 in round one.
The Champion of Club Champion Singles featured 14 Major Singles winners, with Falconer the first Towradgi champion since Tom Ellem in 2006.
Falconer will now represent Illawarra Zone 16 in the State Finals at Nowra BC in November.
