The Illawarra Academy of Sport will host a sponsor appreciation networking afternoon at the Wollongong Golf Club tomorrow to thank their valued partners for their support in providing young regional athletes with the opportunity to excel and achieve through sport.
The Illawarra Academy of Sport is grateful for the unwavering support provided by numerous business and organisation across the region.

NOMINATIONS FOR 2015 SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS NOW OPENED
The Illawarra Academy of Sport is calling for nominations for 2015 Sports Scholarships for cycling, golf, athletes with a disability (AWD), lawn bowls, individual athletes (IAP), hockey, netball, rugby union and triathlon. Academy scholarships provide opportunities for young pre-elite athletes to join the region's leading body for sports training, physical development and education.
Athlete nominations can be submitted online through the IAS website.
IAS scholarships will commence in October 2014 following an extensive selection process which includes trials and interviews prior to offers being made. Scholarship programs run for 12 months.

Nominations close on Friday 15th August 2014. Trials and athlete interviews will be held throughout September.

MEDALS FLOW FOR IAS GRADUATES AT COMMONWEALTH GAMES
The IAS has produced numerous Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games and national representatives over the past 29 years with the recent Glasgow Commonwealth Games a major highlight for eight IAS graduates.
A total of 11 medals were won by former IAS athletes including seven gold, two silver and two bronze.
Speaking on behalf of the academy, acting general manager Shannon Fraser expressed immense pride that so many IAS graduates had done so well to "not only be representing their country at this prestigious international event but to have performed so well is simply remarkable".
"The entire community including the academy are extremely proud of what these young men and women have achieved," he said
The academy's medal winners were as follows:
● Emma McKeon - 4 Gold and 2 Bronze
● David McKeon - 1 Gold and 1 Silver
● Kieran Govers - 1 Gold
● Tristan White - 1 Gold
● Karen Murphy - 1 Silver
