An 88-year-old man who was hit by a car in Shellharbour on Tuesday afternoon remains in a serious but stable condition in Wollongong Hospital.
The man was crossing Bass Street about 4.40pm when he was struck, sustaining head and spinal injuries.
The 49-year-old female driver stopped at the scene and contacted emergency services. She was taken to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
The man was treated by paramedics and then taken to Wollongong Hospital. Officers attached to Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are investigating the incident.
