Wolves skipper Matt Bailey is adamant his side still have plenty to play for in Sunday's stoush with Marconi Stallions at Macedonia Park.
The South Coast are in relative no-man's land on the first-grade ladder with finals football out of reach and a wooden spoon finish at long odds.
But with a club championship ladder still not safe and an FFA Cup on the horizon, Bailey knows there is still a great deal at stake.
The Wolves host the Stallions on Sunday at the new location of Macedonia Park after an NRL match between St George Illawarra Dragons and the Penrith Panthers forced the clash to be moved.
And the skipper, who has led the Wolves for the majority of the campaign with Jacob Timpano out through injury, is preparing for a difficult afternoon.
"They are a good side. We had a tough game with them when we played up there earlier in the year and they are obviously going to be looking to shore-up their position in the club championship," Bailey said.
"The main thing we will be looking for is to have that intensity again that we were missing last week against St George."
The Wolves could have put any club championship fears to rest last weekend with a win over St George.
But a 2-0 win for the bottom-placed side gave the Saints hopes of an unlikely survival.
"We were all really disappointed by how things went last weekend," Bailey said.
"We had a bit of a chat about it on Tuesday and decided it was best to just put that game aside and refocus for this weekend against Marconi."
While St George (122 points) are still at long odds to survive the drop, the matches between 11th-placed Marconi (141) and the 10th-placed Wolves (150) are likely to determine their fate. The Wolves can do them a favour by beating the Stallions.
But the club will have to overcome some off-field drama to achieve that result after coach Nahuel Arrarte told the players less than a fortnight ago he would not be continuing next season.
Bailey said the players were keeping their focus on the football and the upcoming FFA Cup game.
