A Sydney teenager has confessed to burning down the Jamberoo IGA supermarket in late 2012.

Joseph Fischer, 19, from Seven Hills, pleaded guilty to a single charge of intentionally damaging property by fire in Campbelltown District Court on Friday.

Fischer admitted to setting fire to the Allowrie Street store sometime between 3am and 6am on December 17. He was arrested six months later.

Fischer was released on conditional bail ahead of his sentencing, scheduled for October 20 at the District Court.
