Having advanced through three rounds of qualifying, the West Wollongong school were among 250 talented boys and girls thrilled to be kicking goals at the SCG.
The State Finals featured a four-team round robin playoff with St Therese in an extremely even pool with three teams winning one of their three games.
The two finals spots went down to percentage, with St Therese narrowly missing out.
The Wollongong school had a 15-10 win over Central Coast-based Kanwol Public School, but lost 33-7 to the strong Kempsey West PS and lost 21-13 to Willoughby PS.
But just playing at the SCG was a great experience for the girls who were supported by their parents and teachers.
"The girls came down the race where the Australian cricketers come out on to the ground and to see the looks on their faces was pretty special," St Therese Assistant Principal Steve Thorne said.
"The grass was different, the atmosphere was something they hadn't experienced before and it was a marvellous day for everyone.
"To have a chance to not only walk on the SCG but play AFL there was something the girls won't forget."
