Wollongong Police Inspector Phil O’Neil said the two youths were charged at 9.50pm on Wednesday with 11 offences, including armed robbery, larceny and goods in custody.
A group of four youths surrounded a 20-year-old woman walking south along Rowland Avenue at 7.15pm on Wednesday.
Police allege one of the boys produced a knife and demanded her mobile phone, before the group fled down the street when the woman screamed.
At about 8.30pm, a 14-year-old boy entered a Market Street pizza shop and stole four cans of soft drink, running from the store without paying.
Police were called following both incidents.
Police were called to Kembla Street where a group of youths were seen with a bicycle in their possession with a chain attached to it. They arrested two 14-year-old boys, while two other teenagers ran away when police arrived.
They were refused bail and will appear in Children’s Court on Friday.
