Chief executive Nieves Murray says IRT's Towards 2020 strategy will help build strategic partnerships that provide opportunities for older people to live the life they want.

She said a good example was an invitation from Wollongong Central project retail manager Ben Hughes for IRT clients to do a tour of the new shopping centre next week and provide insight and feedback on what they thought about access and facilities.

"We are actually going to do a behind-the-scenes walk through which is exactly what our community vision is all about," Ms Murray said.

Mr Hughes said the shopping centre wanted to know if there was anything that needed to be improved before it opened.

He said the shopping centre had included parking for seniors and many other things relevant to the demographic.

"We want to know if there is something that doesn't work," he said.
