He begins his two-day trek on Wednesday morning. HeartKids and Heart Research Australia will be the beneficiaries of his walk.
Mr Dedes said he was a "heart kid" himself and had open heart surgery when he was six years old and then again when he was 29.
"I'm in my forties now and still very much a kid at heart, thanks to the wonderful work Heart Research Australia and HeartKids do. I know I have personally benefited from their efforts and determination," he said.
