Kerr denies she’s pregnant to Packer
Miranda Kerr has been forced to deny she is pregnant to James Packer after an American magazine claimed she suffered morning sickness symptoms in Germany recently.
Star magazine claimed last week that the Australian supermodel had been ‘‘talking babies’’ with the casino mogul and that she’s eager for a sibling for her three-year-old son Flynn, who she shares with actor Orlando Bloom.
‘‘She never wanted a big gap between her children,’’ an unnamed inside source told Star.‘‘She’s eager to get pregnant again.’’
The publication also hinted Kerr was already expecting by reporting the 31-year-old had morning sickness symptoms, including dizziness and nausea, on a recent trip to Munich.Kerr’s representation rubbished the claims on Tuesday night, saying: ‘‘There is no truth to it.’’
The reports come days after Kerr insisted that Packer’s infamous Bondi brawl with Nine Network boss David Gyngell wasn’t about her, despite persistent rumours linking the pair.
‘‘They weren’t fighting over me,’’ Kerr told London’s The Sunday Times.
The former Victoria’s Secret model said she’s still single and dismissed claims her and the billionaire are romantically involved.
‘‘James and I are friends, but people want to make a story, the public want to put me with someone,’’ she said.Kerr was named on Tuesday as the equal third most highly paid model in the world with earnings of $US7.5 million ($A8.11 million) last year.
Cruise accepts Jackman’s icy challenge
Hugh Jackman challenged Tom Cruise to the ALS ice bucket challenge and his response? Mission: accomplished.
Cruise and Mission: Impossible 5 director Chris McQuarrie doused themselves in not two, but eight buckets of bone-cold water to raise awareness and money for ALS, known in Australia as motor neurone disease (MND).
Cruise posted the video to Twitter along with the message: ‘‘Thx RealHughJackman for challenging chrismcquarrie and I to the #ALSIceBucketChallenge. Mission accomplished.’’
McQuarrie says the whole cast and crew would have been there, except because they’re days away from shooting, everyone is spread out over three continents.
‘‘But we didn’t want to miss the 24-hour deadline so Tom and I are here to take a hit for the team,’’ he said in the video, which Cruise posted onto Twitter.
Cruise added, ‘‘Chris and I are also making donations on behalf of every member of our cast and crew that were lucky enough not to be here today.’’
The pair then sat and awaited their fate, as people threw the icy water over them.By the sixth bucket, they were struggling.‘‘How much more?!’’ Cruise said.
‘‘There’s no end,’’ McQuarrie added.Funnily enough, they needn’t have even gone through with it.In the ice bucket challenge, the water is the punishment if you don’t donate to the ALS Association within 24 hours - which they did.
If you donate, or get iced, then you nominate another three people to the challenge. It’s why Charlie Sheen simply poured money on himself - because that’s the amount he was pledging to donate.
However, celebrities such as Cruise, Jackman and others getting involved is not only amusing, but also helps by raising awareness as well as funds.
Cruise’s video followed a similar one of Jackman, Rooney Mara, Garrett Hedlund and the cast of Pan throwing buckets of the water over themselves in a chilly, wind-swept field.
Jackman had been challenged by Les Miserables castmate Russell Crowe.

Portia De Rossi and Ellen DeGeneres have put rumours of marital troubles behind them by celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary with a message emblazoned across the sky in California.
According to recent rumours the celebrity couple has been on the brink of a split.
The stars put the speculation behind them by celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary on Saturday with the public gesture.
De Rossi hired a skywriter to spell out the word ‘‘Six’’ across the horizon, and DeGeneres posted a picture of the couple posing in front of the message on her Twitter page.
‘‘Look what my wife did for our wedding anniversary. Six!’’ DeGeneres wrote. The daytime TV talk host married the Australian actress in August 2008.In February, DeGeneres told People magazine said she loved her wife so much it ‘‘kills me’’.
‘‘I fall more in love with Portia all the time. I really do. She surprises me all the time,’’ DeGeneres said.
Joel Edgerton heaps praise on Garner
Jennifer Garner’s non-Hollywood attitude clicked with down-to-earth Aussie actor Joel Edgerton, who couldn’t gush enough about the actress.
During a radio interview on Wednesday morning a fan called in to ask Edgerton if he had ever had a crush on one of his leading ladies.
‘‘All of them in some way,’’ Edgerton, who was promoting his new film Felony, told Kiss FM listeners.
‘‘I tell you who I have a complete fondness for, and it’s not a crush in the sense I think that you’re asking me about, is Jennifer Garner...
‘‘(She) is one of the greatest people I’ve ever met.’’Edgerton starred opposite Garner in the 2012 flick The Odd Life of Timothy Green.
‘‘She’s a great mother,’’ he said of the actress, who has three children with husband Ben Affleck, who Edgerton called ‘‘an excellent dude as well.’’
‘‘I wish I could tell you that I was trying to chase her around (but) it was a deep admiration.’’
Edgerton has been doing the rounds, chatting to Australian media about Felony, which he wrote, produces and stars in. He plays a successful Sydney detective, who accidentally knocks over a young boy while drunk-driving one morning.
The movie charts what happens in the aftermath and particularly how two other detectives (played by Tom Wilkinson and Jai Courtney) react.
But you won’t see Edgerton smoking in the drama, with the actor saying he recently gave up the habit thanks to an usual method - hypnotism.
‘‘I recently quit smoking, which is very important to me and I’m never going to smoke another cigarette as long as I live,’’ he told Triple M’s drive show on Tuesday.
‘‘And that’s the reason I don’t want to smoke, and I was hypnotised.’’
- Felony releases in Australian cinemas on August 28.
Anna Nicole Smith’s estate loses legal bid
The estate of Anna Nicole Smith has failed in its final bid to obtain her late husband’s money, seven years after the death of the Playboy model and reality TV star.
A federal judge on Monday rejected the attempt to obtain about $US44 million ($A47.61 million) from the estate of Texas billionaire J Howard Marshall, whom Smith married in 1994 when he was 89 and she was 26.
The oil tycoon died the next year.
His will left his $US1.6 billion estate to his son and nothing to Smith.Smith, under her real name of Vickie Lynn Marshall, challenged the will, claiming that her husband promised to leave her more than $US300 million ($A324.59 million) above the cash and gifts showered on her during their 14-month marriage.
A Houston jury said Marshall was mentally fit and under no undue pressure when he wrote the will.Over the course of nearly 20 years, the Texas bankruptcy court and local and federal courts, including the US Supreme Court, all rejected Smith’s various attempts to overturn Marshall’s will and trust and to obtain money from his estate.
The efforts continued even after Smith died of an accidental drug overdose in February 2007.On Monday, US District Court Judge David O Carter denied a request from Smith’s estate to sanction the estate of Marshall’s son, E Pierce Marshall.
‘‘Time spent litigating the relationship between Vickie Lynn and J Howard has extended for nearly five times the length of their relationship and nearly 20 times the length of their marriage.
It is neither reasonable nor practical to go forward,’’ the judge said in his ruling.Judge Carter noted that it was the last surviving piece of decades of litigation.
‘‘The American taxpayer has supported the burden of this litigation for many years, and it is time for this suit to ‘no longer drag its weary length before the Court,’’’ Carter concluded, quoting a Supreme Court decision in the case that itself quoted Charles Dickens’ Bleak House.
An email message for Howard K Stern, the executor of Smith’s estate, was not immediately returned on Tuesday.G Eric Brunstad Jr, lawyer for the Marshall family, said in a statement that the family agreed with the judge that it was time to stop the litigation.
