A Warrawong man who forged a doctor's certificate hoping to explain his absence from reporting on bail has won a small reprieve on his jail sentence.
Craig John Denniss, 30, will be released on parole in March instead of June next year after Judge Paul Conlon agreed to run two of his sentences concurrently.
The District Court heard Dennis changed dates on a medical certificate issued to him on March 13 to cover dates he had missed reporting to police as per his bail conditions.
Officers immediately noticed the forgery, which was later confirmed when police made inquiries with the doctor's surgery.
The other sentence Denniss is serving relates to an incident last November in which he forged a prescription in a bid to get OxyContin.
The document was quickly recognised as fake, prompting staff to confront Denniss, telling him they had called the police.
Denniss reacted aggressively and stormed out of the pharmacy.
He was arrested at a later date.
