Police are appealing for information after a 33-year-old man was struck and killed by a semi-trailer when he got out of his car on the Princes Motorway at Dapto on Thursday night.

Police were called to the incident between the Princes Highway and Emerson Road turn-offs about 8pm.
It is believed the man stopped his black BMW four-wheel drive on the shoulder of the Princes Motorway, before walking onto the road and into the path of the semi-trailer.
He was hit by the truck’s front left side, and was thrown some distance by the impact. He died at the scene.
The motor of his four-wheel drive was still running when police arrived.
Sergeant Jason Harrison from Lake Illawarra police asked anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Preliminary investigations found no fault with the vehicle, and could not explain why the man had left his car.
The driver of the truck returned negative results after alcohol and drug tests.
Northbound lanes on the Princes Motorway were closed for several hours as police diverted traffic to the Princes Highway.
Crash teams from Sydney and Lake Illawarra are investigating the incident.
