Ms Johnston and Mr Willoughby both took part in the 2013 Celebrity Chef event where they worked with James Viles and were each chosen by him as recipients of commercial cookery scholarships.
At the 2014 dinner last week, the celebrity chef was Colin Fassnidge, from the Four in Hand.
Mr Fassnidge said it was good to be able to give something back, helping the next generation of chefs by offering mentoring as they prepared the menu for this year's dinner.
He will choose next year's scholarship recipients.
The winners will receive a week of supported work experience at a select Sydney metropolitan restaurant and accommodation.
TAFE Illawarra Institute director Dianne Murray described the annual dinner as a great initiative and great success, made possible by the generosity of sponsors and dedication of TAFE Illawarra's Nowra Hospitality and Tourism teams.
