While rain drizzled throughout the day on Wednesday, the sun shone as the students ran across the shore, only the second time some of them had seen a beach.
The school was in Wollongong rehearsing for this weekend's Southern Stars performance, opened up to schools across the state for the first time this year.
Bree Mowbray, the school's creative and practical arts teacher, said the support the little school received during its stay in the Gong had been wonderful.
Teachers and students had offered advice, friendship and some Minnamurra teachers even made the Bourke contingent lunches to take to rehearsals.
Southern Stars is on at the WIN Entertainment Centre on August 29 and 30. Tickets are available through ticketmaster.com.
