Sad news emerged this week with the death of Tumbleweed bassist Jay Curley.

"It is with deep sadness that we inform everyone of a great loss in the Tumbleweed family, our brother, friend and bass player Jay Curley passed away suddenly in his home," the band posted on Facebook on Tuesday.
"We are still shocked by the news of his death.
"We hope that people will remember him for his music, his big heart and his total dedication to rock and roll."
Tributes poured in from bands, venues, record stores, blogs, magazines, newspapers and more, with many local bands sending condolences to Tumbleweed and Jay's family.

Tumbleweed have made no statement as to the future of the band.
Radar and the Mercury send heartfelt condolences to Jay's family, friends and bandmates.
• In other news; Kiama indie dudes The Vanns have been announced as support for Melbourne synth-pop act Northeast Party House's show in Sydney next month. The Vanns will open the show at Goodgod Small Club on October 3.
• Wollongong producer Moonbase Commander contributed the beat for an awesome new track from New York rapper Cakes Da Killa. Released through the Red Bull Sound Select project, the booming trap rap tune Naptime is available from redbullsoundselect.com
• Mixtape For The Drive were set to support American band The Wonder Years in Sydney next month, but the whole tour has been cancelled. Ticket refunds are available from point of sale.
• Post-hardcore band Mowgli have prepared a split 7" EP with Adelaide band Featherweight, to be released in October. The split, titled F/M, can be previewed online at dispositionrecords.bandcamp.com.
• Jim Wilson, one-half of awesome electronic outfit This Mess, is putting together new music under the solo moniker Somersault. An hour mix of house and disco tracks, including several originals, is available on his Soundcloud page.
