The Port Kembla lad, who retired from the NRL last year, will face-off against a raft of celebrities and athletes when the 14th season of the popular dancing series screens later this year.
This year’s dancing line-up includes international supermodel Ashley Hart, cricketer Michael Clarke’s wife Kyly and former Australian Idol star Ricki-Lee Coulter.
Several sports personalities have also signed on for the show including swimmer Eamon Sullivan, AFL star David Rodan and snowboarder Torah Bright.
Cooper has been partnered with Ukranian-born dancer Masha Belash, who danced with retired cricketer Nathan Bracken in the 11th season of the series.
He tweeted about his new pursuit earlier this week, writing: “Yes, I will be on @Channel7 Dancing with the Stars. Boys before u judge me, did you know Bruce Lee was Hong Kong cha cha champion 4real. Haha”.
Fellow footballer Beau Ryan gave his mate a good wrap on Twitter on Friday, tweeting: “I’m hearing my man @mattcooper44 can dance #TurnDownForWhat.”
Online agent Sportsbet has already predicted Kyly Clarke will take out this year’s mirrorball trophy.
The series is expected to launch soon on Seven.
