Despite our grief, we all feel it is very important to express our sincerest admiration and gratitude to Erwin’s surgeon, Dr Jerry Day, and his wonderful team.
His brilliance gave us over six months that we surely would not have had, were it not for him, his team and the fantastic C4 people and facilities at that hospital.
We also want to publicly thank the NUM, Fiona Whittaker, and her caring, ever-patient nursing staff. They have not only cared for Erwin in every way possible, while we all prayed for an improbable miracle, they have also been of enormous help to all of us in dealing with this long and painful journey.
Everyone who lives in this district has reason to be grateful for having such a well-equipped and professionally staffed hospital here to deal with things when misfortune strikes.
We are very grateful to be able to announce that the Kembla Grange Racing Club offered to hold Erwin’s funeral service at its facility, which was so relevant when considering that it was effectively his home away from home.
