The sun was shining for the first day of spring and Illawarra residents were out in force to take advantage of the warmth.

Stephen Marley from Campbelltown Pilots used the gorgeous conditions to take his drone for a spin across the Austinmer headland, capturing Elvy Anna Hunter enjoying some rays.

But the sunshine won’t stick around for long, with a strong southerly change forecast for the NSW coast on Tuesday afternoon.

Wintry temperatures, gale force winds and dangerous surf conditions are predicted for the coast.
