The upgrade, which is the first stage of the board's masterplan for the club, saw the club's main bar redesigned and the club's TAB and gaming areas and reception revamped.
The Kiama Golf Club is the only "watering hole" in the North Kiama area, covering the suburbs of Kiama Downs, Minnamurra and Gainsborough, which has a combined population of around 9000 people.
Club secretary manager David Rootham said as a result of this the club had a large number of social members with more than 2300, which helps support the Kiama Golf Club in an economic climate that has resulted in some golf courses on the South Coast struggling.
Mr Rootham said having the club in turn give back to the North Kiama community was something the board takes very seriously.
The club also has a major role to play in contributing to Kiama's tourism sector, he said.
Subtle golfing themes have been applied throughout the upgrade from the patterned carpet and choice of colours to the new artwork in the dining room.
"That is creating plenty of discussion," Mr Rootham said.
Those with a sharp eye have picked the artwork is an interpretation of the Kiama club's golf course layout.
Mr Rootham said stages two and three of the club's masterplan will involve upgrades to the club dining room and main lounge areas, with the second stage scheduled for winter 2016.
