Streetwear shop Glue and surf store Billabong will open for the first time in the Illawarra, joining several region-first food franchises like Charlie Lovett, Yogurberry, Grill’d Healthy Burgers and Coco Cubano.
Aussie undies brand Bonds, shoe specialists Hype DC and Nike and a Cotton On ‘‘mega store experience’’ will also open, GPT Group said on Thursday.
These young, sporty brands are tipped to complement an influx of new labels in the existing GPT-owned buildings, including Country Road – which opened on Thursday – as well as Oxford, Trenery and Mimco.
Glue owner Hilton Seskin, who is responsible for bringing Topshop to Australia, said he was ‘‘extremely excited’’ to open a Wollongong store.
The completion date for the GPT mall, which has been under construction since early 2012, has been pushed back by about two weeks due to recent heavy rain.
It is expected to open in early October.
