7.55pm: Lawrence Hargrave Drive has reopened in both directions in Helensburgh following a car and truck accident at Walker Street.

7.30pm: Lawrence Hargrave Drive is closed in both directions in Helensburgh due to a car and truck accident at Walker Street.

As a result, motorists wanting to access Stanwell Tops can use the Old Princes Highway, Parkes Street, Walker Street and Otford Road instead.

Emergency services are on site working to free a trapped occupant.

Additionally, traffic in the area is very heavy after an earlier car accident in one southbound lane on the M1 Princes Motorway at the Helensburgh Exit.

Motorists should allow plenty of extra travel time and expect significant delays.

Further south, Picton Road remains closed in both directions between Macarthur Drive and the M1 Princes Motorway after a fatal two-car accident in Wilton.

Motorists can use Appin Road as an alternative route, but are advised to allow additional travel time. There is no forecast for when Picton Road will reopen.
