The morning’s temperatures were mild – despite a couple of short downpours – rising to about 22 degrees in Albion Park and just above 20 at Bellambi Point.
The mercury began to drop about lunchtime as heavy storms – including large hailstones and damaging winds – were scheduled to hit the the Illawarra and most of the NSW coast in the afternoon.
But then the storm warning was downgraded by the Bureau of Meteorology – despite golf ball-sized hail reported in Picton – with a few showers sweeping the coast before clearing to a mostly sunny afternoon.
Looking ahead, spring’s unpredictable weather patterns will continue with temperatures dropping back below 20 degrees from Wednesday and remaining lower into early next week.
Wednesday and Thursday will be mostly sunny, while showers are predicted on Friday and clearing on Saturday before returning again..
