University player Heath Ogilvie was delighted to snatch back the Illawarra hockey title in Sunday's extra-time thriller against Albion Park.
The Students had the crown taken from them last year by their arch rivals, after winning the previous five in a row, but held their nerve to turn the tables.
The students scored in extra time to clinch the title 4-3 in the tightest of tussles.
Albion Park secured a two-goal jump on their opponents before University fought back to have the scored tied 3-3 at full-time.
It was a frantic extra-time period but the Students managed to find the back of the net to get over the line.
Ogilvie and his teammates were thrilled.
"It's a good time to be playing for them [University]," Ogilvie said.
"After being top all year, they [Albion Park] weren't going to give it to us.
"I think we wanted to prove we could get it back off them after last year.
"We wanted to be the best team on the day, not just throughout the year."
Driving the Albion Park outfit's mindset was the result in the 2013 decider and Ogilvie wasn't about to let it happen again.
But he denied the word revenge had been thrown around before the big game.
"I don't know if it's revenge, I guess you could say it's good to win it back from them," he said.
For 23-year-old Ogilvie, the win marked his sixth hockey premiership.
He has helped form a ruthless University outfit that, along with Albion Park, has dominated the Illawarra competition, for the best part of a decade.
Ogilvie is confident they can defend their title in 2015.
They could lose Sydney-based Nathan Bourke next year but Ogilvie expects most of the squad to return.
