``About 7.45am this morning, Traffic and Highway Patrol officers were conducting speed enforcement on the Hume Highway, Mittagong,'' a police spokesman said.
``At this time, a B-double was observed to be travelling in lane three in a north bound direction, overtaking smaller vehicles.
``Police checked the speed of the B-double at 141km/h. The heavy vehicle is restricted to a maximum speed of 100km/h.
``Police stopped the B-double and inspected it and found that a tyre had commenced to come apart.''
``The driver was issued a $1308 speeding fine as well as other infringements for work diary offences.''
Police say the B-double was then issued a major defect notice requiring it to be towed from the scene.
