They are being sent by Hairhouse Warehouse franchisee Lube Markovski who employs 38 hairdressers at three salons in Wollongong, Shellharbour and Figtree.
As Mr Markovski prepares for increased traffic with the opening of the GPT Group's extended Wollongong Central shopping centre in three weeks, he is delighted to be able to send two of his talented team overseas to hear and learn about the latest trends by the biggest names in the industry.
He said Hairhouse Warehouse would remain in its present location in a high-traffic area on the eastern side of the foot bridge connecting the existing Wollongong Central shopping centre to the new complex on the western side of Keira Street.
But while Ms Uzelac and Ms De Ornelas are disappointed they will just miss the opening day they are over the moon to be chosen to attend the L'Oreal Matrix World Expo.
"It is basically a hair show for salons around the world," Mr Markovski said.
"It is for the best of the best in the world. In Australia, we were one of the few salons that got to send some of our stylists."
Mr Markovski said salons had to turn over a certain volume to be chosen to attend the expo.
"They only send their key accounts in Australia and we were one of their major accounts, which is pretty amazing," he said.
"It was recognition of all three salons here. We have not even been going four years. It is such a strong brand. We now employ more hairdressers than anybody else in the Illawarra. I chose the hairdressers but they had to meet certain criteria. They had to be senior stylists and very technically good. They are really deserving. Dragana has been with me since day one. She was one of my original employees and Tania is also a senior stylist in our Wollongong salon. She has been with me for two years. One of the reasons we are such a successful salon is because of these guys."
Mr Markovski said the opportunity for the two members of the team to go to Spain would be great for the business.
"They are so excited because a lot of it is training and development," he said. "They will be exposed to the latest international trends, cutting, colouring, the latest fashions and some of the world's greatest stylists who are going to be there. For these guys, it is going to be like meeting a rock star."
Ms Uzelac said she had been in the industry for 21 years and this was an opportunity she could have only dreamed of when she started as a teenager.
"This is going to give us so much inspiration and is going to be a great experience to learn about what is happening in the industry outside Australia," she said.
Ms Uzelac said Mr Markovski was great to work for because all his salons went out of their way to provide great service, quality and a friendly atmosphere.
"If our customers weren't happy, they wouldn't keep coming back," she said.
Ms De Ornelas said consistency and a positive atmosphere were important.
