Acting Up Drama Academy owner Erin Bubb is running the low-cost program, in the hope of attracting children who may not have previously been able to afford regular drama lessons.
"This is a great way for kids who haven't had the financial means to attend those classes in the school term to try it out," she said. "It's really about giving kids the opportunity. There are kids out there who love acting and performing and just haven't been able to do it, so this is really a chance for them."
The workshops, set to run each Wednesday during the school holidays, will involve a variety of games and activities including mask making, group work and characterisation.
Ms Bubb was hoping the kids would hone their communication skills and confidence, while indulging their naughty side.
"Drama is a chance for kids to have a bit of fun, be a bit cheeky and just have an outlet for their silly side," she said.
All workshop proceeds would be used to fill and post boxes for the Salvation Army's Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child, devised to provide Christmas presents for children overseas.
"There are a lot of kids out there who are in desperate situations and won't be getting anything for Christmas," Ms Bubb said.
"The workshops will give kids the chance to fill the boxes with a special gift and send it overseas - I wanted the kids to be able to share the fun experience of the workshop with other children, I think that's an important message."
The workshops will be held on September 24 and October 1 at Wollongong Salvation Army.
Classes are $5 and include afternoon tea.
