Talented Wollongong swimmer Courtney Lendvay claimed Illawarra's only individual gold medal at the recent NSW State Age Championships at the Sydney Olympic Pool Aquatic Centre.

The Wollongong Swim Club junior won gold in the 200 metres backstroke in the 12-years age division, chopping a massive 5.96 seconds off her previous personal best time.
In eight swims at the championships, Lendvay trimmed more than 20sec off her PBs, with her other top result a fourth in the 200m freestyle.
Clubmate Jarrod Dyer continued his outstanding season by setting a state record in the 13-years s14 Multi-Class 50m backstroke.
Wollongong clubmate Lucy Cliff also picked up a state medal with a silver in the 15-years 100m breaststroke, plus set four PBs at the state carnival.
Other Wollongong Swim Club juniors to do well included Astel Gaviglia, who finished 12th in the 15-years 100m breaststroke, while Dannika Creati (10 years) was 11th in the 50m freestyle.
The Wollongong club's new summer season points-score starts on October 10 at Beaton Park.
