About 60 children have been taking part in the five-day school holiday course this week, where they learnt about water safety for both pool and beach environments.
The program was created thanks to an idea of Trish Gillard, a youth worker at Bellambi Neighbourhood Centre, and has been supported by various groups including the surf and bowling clubs, Northern Stars Swim School, Surf Educators International and Youth Off The Streets.
Keira MP Ryan Park said the program was "proof of what can be achieved when a community works together".
"What we have seen in this program is local groups joining to do something for these kids that is not only important but also fun and engaging," he said.
