Blake, 31, declared he was "in love" with the reality dating show's winner Sam, when he proposed to the 25-year-old during last Thursday's finale in South Africa.

Now, three days after Network Ten released a statement confirming the real estate agent from Perth had pulled the pin on the whirlwind relationship, Blake has broken his silence.

The baritone-voiced smooth-talker said his decision to end the engagement was based on a "combination of factors" that came to the fore after filming for the show wrapped more than two months ago.

"Being back in reality, in a long-distance relationship, having unfiltered contact and really getting to know each other more," Blake told Woman's Day. "It highlighted that Sam is someone I absolutely love and care for but not in the way of a romantic partner."

"I realised there was a change over the six weeks - the chemistry changed."

Rumours have swirled since Friday that Blake has rekindled his romance with other bachelorettes, including runner-up Lisa Hyde and third-placed Louise Pillidge, amid speculation he'd even impregnated someone on the show.

The Bachelor admitted it would be "impossible not to feel something" for the other girls given the "emotional journey" they shared.

But while he was adamant he'd met "nobody new", he didn't clarify whether or not he had renewed a romance with someone he already knows.

Meanwhile, a heartbroken Sam said told the magazine she could sense her new fiance was not "100 per cent in" their relationship after the show finished, but she still didn't see what was coming.

"I burst into tears to be honest - I was in shock," the financial consultant from Victoria's Mornington Peninsula said.

"I'm so numb at the moment, just trying to process it all.

"I was completely blindsided. At the end of the day I think he was too confused emotionally to know what he wanted."

Sam said she wasn't angry with Garvey for what he did, rather "disappointed, which is worse".

She added that Bunda has given her the $58,000 engagement ring to keep and will remodel it for her.

Sam's comments come as she and Lisa, who have remained tight friends, appear to have snubbed Louise from their social media pages, "unfollowing" her on Instagram and deleting her from their Facebook accounts.

Sam told the Daily Mail on Monday she hadn't even noticed she wasn't following Louise and has "no beef whatsoever" with her.

But the bubbly blonde from Thredbo, NSW, was also excluded from a pool party invite on Lisa's Facebook page.

Lisa, who herself has publicly denied she's pregnant to Blake, tagged 12 of her former housemates in a post captioned "Looking forward to SOAKED with my Bachelorettes," in which Louise was noticeably absent.
