Peak-hour commuters are being warned to allow extra travel time on the M4 after a crash closed city-bound lanes at Eastern Creek early on Tuesday.
Motorists were left facing long delays after the four-car accident near the M7 on-ramp closed two of three lanes just before 5.40am.
All lanes re-opened about 6.45am, but it could still take some time for traffic to return to normal, a Transport Management Centre spokesman said.
No people were injured in the crash, the spokesman said, and the site has now been cleared.
Commuters can alternatively use the Great Western Highway and then access the M4 via the Wallgrove Road on-ramp.
