Wollongong fans might not know it, but Hawks forward Oscar Forman is basically the best three-point shooter in the NBL’s 35-year history.
Forman has finished as the league’s top long-range bomber a record five times in his 13-year career, including the past three seasons.
Turning 33 in January, he keeps himself in tip-top condition and hasn’t even considered retirement.
After stints with the Adelaide 36ers and New Zealand Breakers, Forman is in his fifth season with the Hawks and would love to finish his career with the league’s last foundation club.
But he grew up in Adelaide and still has strong family ties in the City of Churches.
‘‘Wollongong’s a place I’ve grown to love, but I’d be completely happy with either Adelaide or Wollongong, which is a big thing for me to say,’’ Forman said.
‘‘I love Wollongong, the city, the people, the beaches and lifestyle. I love Adelaide because it’s home, it’s family, it’s where I grew up.’’
Forman is a seasoned traveller and believes Wollongong residents have every right to boast about the region’s beautiful coastline.
‘‘We have fantastic beaches,’’ he said.
‘‘I travel every off-season and I like to see as much of the world as possible, and often someone will tell me ‘you have to go and see this beach’.
‘‘And I’m like ‘I live a hundred metres from a world-class beach’.
‘‘Some of these places I go to don’t have waves or they don’t even have sand.
‘‘All we do in Australia is have world-class beaches, especially in Wollongong.’’
