They will join newly-crowned premiers South Sydney and Brisbane as the NRL's representatives in the expansion of the World Club Challenge, against traditional English powerhouses St Helens, Wigan and Warrington.
League champions St Helens will face defending premiers Wigan in the Super League grand final on Sunday.
The Broncos and Rabbitohs confirmed their appearance in the tournament in September, while the third invitation was to be extended to the eventual premiers. The Rabbitohs' grand final triumph on Sunday left the Super League looking for another team to fill the remaining spot in the draw.
Super League general manager Blake Solly said the Dragons had been chosen for their huge following in the UK.
"The Dragons have a unique place in the history of the sport and Super League fans will look forward to seeing them in the series," Solly said.
"Having tasted success in the 2011 World Club Challenge, it is fitting the Dragons are the third representative from the NRL.
"With the Wigan Warriors, St Helens and Warrington Wolves confirmed as Super League's participating clubs, excitement is already building.
"Not only will the series pit club against club, but the Super League against the NRL in a fascinating competition between two leagues and two hemispheres," he said.
NRL Head of Football, Todd Greenberg echoed Solly's excitement and said the six-team tournament would bring added interest to the traditional World Club Challenge.
"Fans already love seeing the best from Australia play the best from Britain," Greenberg said.
"But this tournament will showcase three of the top clubs in the NRL.
"It is a chance for our teams to go head-to-head with the best in the UK to determine the best rugby league clubs in the world."
The tournament will see the Dragons play their first match on English soil since their 21-15 defeat of Wigan in the 2011 World Club Challenge on the back of their 2010 NRL premiership.
Dragons chief executive Peter Doust said the club was happy to support the new concept.
"The World Club Series is a great concept and something that our club has been an advocate of for some time," Doust said.
"We are delighted to have been invited by the Super League and look forward to this inaugural event."
It will be a homecoming for Dragons prop Mike Cooper - who played 122 games for Warrington before joining the Dragons this year - and star five-eighth Gareth Widdop, who were both named in the England Four Nations squad on Tuesday.
