The answer for business partners Nick Fabrio, 24, and Himi Perera, 23, is to do it all again.
The two men who won a Wollongong City Centre Retail and Business Award for best new business earlier this year for their new venture raised $1267 last year for beyondblue.
That coincided with Mental Health Month, which is exactly what they are doing again.
They say timing in business is everything and their first anniversary, where they are giving away frozen yoghurt free this Friday and Saturday, coincides with the opening of GPT’s expanded Wollongong Central shopping centre.
So the two friends since high school expect to be fairly busy as they encourage people to make a donation in a collection bucket located on the counter at their Clique Brothers store in exchange for a free Clique Brothers yoghurt.
Their self-serve frozen yoghurt outlet at 78 Market Street opened on the first weekend in October 2013 and one of the reasons they chose Wollongong was because of the development activity they saw happening in and around the city centre.
Both men grew up in the Hills district but saw great potential in Wollongong.
They believe their hunch and research proved correct and said their customer base during the first year of trade had been very broad.
Both men have commerce degrees.
Mr Fabrio’s is from UNSW and Mr Perera completed his at UTS.
‘‘We are hoping to raise $3000 for beyondblue this weekend,’’ Mr Perera said.
Mr Fabrio said Clique Brothers would be open from 2pm to 11pm on Friday and Saturday and the free yoghurt would be available for the entire time of trade.
The idea behind their self-serve yoghurt has always been to allow customers to control their own ingredients and toppings.
But they are also keen to raise awareness about mental health, particularly among males because 80per cent of men do not talk about it.
