Early leaders Helensburgh and Corrimal chased down challenging targets to claim outright wins in Saturday's round two of Illawarra cricket.
The Burgh backed up their opening-round win over Corrimal by making 163 off 34 overs against Northern Districts to win with seven wickets - and five overs - to spare.
From 2-35, Mitch McCrae (78 not out) and younger brother Hayden McCrae (52) put on 104 to guide the Burgh to victory.
"They made it look pretty easy, it wasn't, but they put on a masterclass," Helensburgh official and first grader Tim Lloyd said.
The Burgh had taken first innings points on day one, but the Butchers batted much better in their second dig, declaring at 7-167 to set the home team a five-an-over run-rate for an outright decision.
Dragons under 20s rugby league star Hayden McCrae wasn't going to play cricket this season but returned to the Burgh and made a ton in second grade in round one.
At Judy Masters Oval, Corrimal beat Balgownie outright after both clubs chased maximum points on the second day.
Twenty-one wickets fell on day one, with Bally resuming at 1-52 in their second dig, a lead of just 10.
Bally declared at 7-204 - led by David Murphy's 44 - leaving Corrimal to make 162 off 48 overs for the outright win.
After being 3-59, 19-year-old Jamie Dillon (63 not out) and skipper Rob Fisher (55no) put on 75 for the fourth wicket to get the Cougars home with two overs to spare.
"Bally didn't lose a comp game last season so to beat them outright is big," Fisher said.
"They're got four [Illawarra] rep players ... we haven't any but our young blokes showed we're a good side and can beat the best sides."
Meanwhile, a dominant batting effort helped Port Kembla to a four-wicket win over Wollongong at North Dalton Park.
Set 201, Port resumed at 1-56 and were 3-91 before a 74-run stand between Gavin McCauley (82) and Scott Smith (47) sealed victory.
"It was a good batting effort and should give us confidence," Port skipper Ryan Mattas said.
At Reed Park, Dapto (6-206) have begun with two wins following a comfortable four-wicket victory over Wests Illawarra (144).
Resuming at 2-92, opener Greg Jones (59) and Troy Gasseling (45) led the way for Dapto, while a weary Richard Marsh (43) made runs after celebrating the birth of his second child on Friday.
At Keira Oval, University beat Keira by 113 runs in the rematch of last season's final, leaving the Lions with two losses to start their premiership defence.
The Students set up victory by making 283 on day one, with Keira (170) bowled out just after tea.
Kieren Richards (48) and No 9 Troy Coleman (33) top-scored while Vivek Nandigam (3-21) and Rhys Voysey (3-42) struck with the ball for Uni.
