Windang's Peter Thomson and Rick Malley were edged out in the semi-finals of the NSW Senior Pairs on the second day of the State Championships at Ettalong Memorial Bowling Club.
The Illawarra champions lost 27-24 to Belrose's David Shearer and Crawford Linton after emphatic wins over Bombala's Keith Elliott and Athol Dent 28-9 and Toongabbie's Jeffery McDonald and Kenneth Freeland 27-5 in the first two tourney rounds on Saturday. The eight day State Championships finals features the 16 zone winners from across NSW in pairs, senior pairs, singles, senior singles, triples, fours, President reserve singles and President reserve pairs.
Warilla's Jeremy Henry and Wayne Crane were eliminated in the first round in pairs 18-11 by North Haven's Ron Davis and Danny Barrett.
Corrimal bowls co-ordinator Brett Pieper takes to the green on Monday morning in the blue-ribbon singles and faces defending champion Ben Twist (St Johns Park) in the first round.
