Beating the Wollongong Hawks on their own turf on Sunday wasn't enough for the Cairns Taipans.
The Taipans have decided to make themselves at home in Wollongong for a few days, using the city as a temporary base as they prepare for Thursday's road meeting with the Breakers.
"It's cheaper for us to stay here than it is to fly back home and then fly to New Zealand," Cairns coach Aaron Fearne said.
The Taipans cruised through a recovery and rest day on Monday and train at Berkeley stadium on Tuesday. They fly to Auckland on Wednesday.
Cairns forward Cam Tragardh played for the Hawks from 2007-10 and is enjoying his brief stay at his old stomping ground.
"There's some great restaurants and coffee shops in the Gong," Tragardh said.
"Maybe I'll hit up big Dell [Wendell Sailor] for a game of golf, something low contact."
Sailor sat courtside next to Hawks owner James Spenceley on Sunday and the pair must have exchanged a thousand high-fives during the game.
The exuberant Spenceley also had a frequent high-five partner in former Hawks owner Arun Jagatramka, who was seated directly behind the new boss.
