The Project's Carrie Bickmore travelled to Thailand, spending just four-and-a-half hours in the country to interview Garvey and his new love about their burgeoning relationship.

But, that's not all - there's even more to come on Tuesday night with his jilted fiancee Sam Frost and runner-up Lisa Hyde being dragged into the mix to keep fanning the flames of what has inadvertently turned into Ten's biggest TV story of the year.

"There is a real love story here, there's a beautiful love story," Garvey told Bickmore about his romance with Pillidge, which only came to light last week. "And I came into the whole experience looking for love and I've been so blessed to be able to find that and I'd like to celebrate that respectfully and I would like to move forward with that now."

Sadly for Garvey, there's not much chance of that. Immediately after his interview came the bombshell that Sam Frost and runner-up Lisa Hyde had been shown footage of Bickmore's interview and had reacted strongly.

Garvey had told Bickmore in an earlier interview for The Project he kept quiet about Pillidge out of respect for Frost who was aware of the relationship.

But in a sneak preview of Tuesday's show, Frost labelled Garvey "a liar" when he said she knew about his feelings for Pillidge, adding "when I raised my suspicions with him he just flat-out denied it".

Hyde also said Garvey had approached her to ask if she still had feelings for him, and could she see a future with him.

The emergence of the two jilted suitors at the end of the segment livened up an otherwise dull interview.

Garvey complained about how he had been portrayed on the previous The Project interview, said it was "difficult" and claimed a "laugh track" had been played over his interview.

Bickmore pointed out, however, this had been a genuine audience reaction as people believed he was being "disingenuous"..

Pillidge had very little to say other than to confirm she would be moving to Perth to begin a life with Garvey and that the relationship "feels right" and she didn't feel the need to question whether he was being truthful after he had already dumped her once.

She said she received a "heartfelt" letter from Garvey before the finale and she felt she had to give the relationship "one last try" - much to the amusement of the studio audience.

"I can only ask for honesty and I can only feel what I feel. It feels right and I can't question or anything like that because I need to support Blake. I need to trust in his word," she said.

Garvey didn't exactly win the PR battle when he appeared on The Project the first time around to talk about his "broken heart" and the mess he had gotten into with his short-lived fiancee Frost.

In the continuing public airing of the emotional rollercoaster which has emerged out of season two of Ten's The Bachelor, Garvey, a 31-year-old real-estate agent from Perth, has weathered public outrage over his brief engagement to Frost and being dubbed "the most hated man in Australia".

It appears that the spotlight is yet to fade away from Garvey, with the behind-the-scenes dramas unfolding far beyond what producers for The Bachelor could have dreamt up on the publicity front.

Just days ago it emerged that Garvey and Pillidge, a 26-year-old events planner from Brisbane, were an item, and with the pair embarking on a PR offensive on Monday with a tell-all feature in Woman's Day and appearance on The Project.

In the private letter written by Garvey to Pillidge publicly aired in Woman's Day, he had said "not a day has gone by that I haven't thought of you and our time together" and that "what you and I shared was something truly special".

"Louise, you have my heart, you share my soul and in my mind you are the one for me," he had said.

Garvey's first appearance on The Project earlier this month, viewed by 1.5 million people, was met with scorn for appearing insincere and scripted as he attempted to justify his about-turn with Frost, 25, who he had asked to marry him weeks earlier in the show's finale in South Africa.

"I've had my heart broken throughout this because I've said goodbye to many, many incredible women – all of them now. And that's going to take time to heal," he had said during the first interview.

In Garvey's letter to Pillidge, he had offered her the following explanation: "I need to be true to myself and who I am as a person. It's for that reason that I'm not going to follow through with the engagement."

Whatever happens, Ten is optimistically charging ahead with season three of The Bachelor and is calling for candidates online, which was advertised in the commercial break just before the interview aired on Monday night.

"If you're single and looking for love then you're in luck… because the next series of The Bachelor is casting now!" reads the online blurb, perhaps aiming to attract those who may not have been put off by the Garvey debacle.
