Cameron Simpson was slurring his speech when he was pulled over by police about 2.15am on September 14, driving home with a mate.
The 20-year-old came to the attention of police driving his ute up to 130km/h along Rothery Street in Corrimal, before he turned and continued speeding north on the Princes Highway.
At one point police saw the red P-plater overtake another car on the inside lane at Russell Vale at speed.
Police activated their warning signals and pulled Simpson over in Greta Street, Woonona.
Simpson, who registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.157, admitted he had four schooners of beer while he was out, despite the zero-alcohol restriction on his provisional licence.
‘‘The risk to himself, his passenger and the public was extreme in the circumstances,’’ the police fact sheet noted.
On Tuesday, Simpson pleaded guilty to high-range drink driving and dangerous driving charges.
He will reappear in court for sentence on November 11.
