Perry ramped up her comeback in Canberra to lead the Cricket Australia XI to a thumping win against the West Indies at Chisholm Oval, taking 1-14 off three overs to prove she has overcome a knee injury.

Perry's Southern Stars teammate Jess Cameron also stepped up, smashing 43 not out as the CA XI cruised passed their target of 104 in the Twenty20 match to secure a nine-wicket win.

Perry is making her comeback from iliotibial band friction syndrome in her knee, an injury usually picked up by marathon runners, and had the added responsibility for captaining for the first time in almost a decade.

"It felt good to be playing again and I enjoyed the added challenge of captain," she said.

"It was a good way to kick things off, bowling off my full run-up and I think the last time I captained was playing junior cricket for Northern Districts ... that was when I was 14 or 15.

"I haven't done enough of it to know if I enjoy it or not, but it keeps you in the game and I did like it today."

The CA XI will attempt to make it two wins from two games when it plays the West Indies in another Twenty20 at Manuka Oval on Wednesday.

The matches are being used as a warm-up for the series between the Southern Stars and the West Indies in November.

The CA XI delivered a superb bowling performance to keep the tourists to 4-104 off their 20 overs, with Kara Sutherland claiming 2-17 off three overs.

Cameron then combined with Beth Mooney (48 not out) to ease to a win.

ACT Meteors bowler Rhiannon Dick was playing her first representative game and earned praise from Cameron after her two overs.

"I definitely like the way [Dick] is going," Cameron said. "We don't have that many left-arm spinners at the moment, so it's nice to see her developing and that something different is coming along. She deserves to be here."
