FIVE TO WATCH

1. Corey Gameiro (Sydney FC)

Two goals in two games for Gameiro – and both of them top-drawer finishes – means he's in seriously good form. At this rate, he could be an outside shot at the Golden Boot. Not bad for a player who many thought would still be on the fringes this season.

2. Jade North (Brisbane Roar)

The smooth-moving centre-half is among the league's best defenders but he will be fuming about how the Roar gave up the lead – twice – against Perth Glory last week. Will be keen to help keep a clean sheet this time.

3. Sasa Ognenovski (Sydney FC)

It's been a difficult start to the year for Ognenovski, who at least managed to get a goal in the derby. However, he's paid to stop them, not score them. He copped a knock in training on Thursday and might not be fully fit.

4. Mensur Kurtishi (Brisbane Roar)

He's not Besart Berisha, but he's more than capable of doing a job in attack. Grabbed a goal against Perth, took some nice touches and appears to be settling in well. The public's expectations, however, are sky high for the new striker. Only more goals will satisfy them.

5. Vedran Janjetovic (Sydney FC)

Had an absolute howler in the derby when he let in what should have been an easy high ball. Goalkeepers either return stronger from their errors or become haunted by them. We'll wait and see Janjetovic's response.

THE KEY MATCH-UP

Luke Brattan (Brisbane Roar) v Terry Antonis (Sydney FC)

These two could be Australia's central-midfield pairing at the next World Cup. Antonis has clearly improved over the off-season and has been lively in his first two matches, linking the play at will. Brattan's abilities need no introduction. This should be a tantalising showdown.

IN THE DUGOUT

Mike Mulvey (Brisbane Roar)

Two games, two losses. Is the honeymoon over for Mike Mulvey? It will be if they lose this game. That said, this Roar side has too much quality to be down for very long. With a near-full squad to pick from, the champions have to go into this one as favourites.

Graham Arnold (Sydney FC)

Finally broke through for his first win as Sydney coach last week, although the midweek shenanigans with Nikola Petkovic have grabbed all the subsequent headlines. Needs to get his players fresh and focused against a Brisbane side  desperate to get its first win of the season.
