The enclosures in the reptile house feature beautifully painted scenes of the outback and Australian landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House and the Sea Cliff Bridge.
Symbio owner John Radnidge said the reptile display was the equal of any in the country.
"I believe this is as good as any you will see in Australia and the feedback we've had from the public and from other zoo professionals has been very favourable," he said.
The new facility has 24 exhibits and houses a variety of reptiles. Among them are some of the most venomous snakes in the world, including inland taipans, death adders and tiger snakes.
Also on display are turtles, crocodiles, chameleons and other lizards.
The state-of-the -art facility was designed to be clean and green with its heating and lighting needs supplied by a solar power system, while two rainwater tanks with a combined capacity of almost 50,000 litres have been installed.
