Sydney Kings' 15th straight loss at the hands of Perth could be made worse with star import Josh Childress facing the prospect of a suspension for a stray forearm on Wildcats opponent Jesse Wagstaff.

Childress was ejected after the incident late in the third quarter of the 84-63 loss and was roundly jeered by the Wildcats fans among the 12,469 spectators in the Perth Arena.

The 31-year-old American was working hard to keep his team in the contest with 11 points, four assists, three blocks and three rebounds, but he didn't appreciate a screen set on him on defence by Jesse Wagstaff.

He was knocked to the floor after colliding with Wagstaff and after regaining his feet, appeared to strike the Perth forward as he took a shot.

Childress took to Twitter after the game to say "@NBL it was very clear who runs the league and the officials tonight. Maybe the best officiated game I've ever been a part of."

It got worse for the Kings with co-captain Ben Madgen also being tossed by the referees after copping a second technical foul for flopping.

Kings coach Damian Cotter will wait and see before offering an opinion on the Childress incident, but didn't like the way his team played and handled Perth's pressure.

"Chill was frustrated and maybe he overreacted, I don't know I will have to look at it on the film, and we'll see. For us we have to keep our composure and that's not just Childress, it's everybody," Cotter said.

"We were disappointed with how we played but credit to Perth. We felt that they would do what they did with their back court pressure, but we were disappointed with how we handled it. That's on me as a coach and I have to make sure I prepare the group a bit better."

The Wildcats have improved to a 2-1 record while the Kings have dropped two straight after winning their opening match of the season over Wollongong.

Veteran guard Damien Martin was the star of Perth's win, terrorising Sydney with his tenacious defensive. Martin registered a career-high nine steals, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Madgen top-scored for the Kings with 15 points and five rebounds with Jason Cadee perhaps his team's best player and certainly ball handler with 14 points. Cody Ellis had some good moments with eight points and six boards.

Perth led 26-17 after the first quarter and the match was all but over when they took a 50-32 lead into the main break. They took a 68-47 buffer into three-quarter-time before closing out the emphatic triumph in the final term.

Martin put in one of the more remarkable defensive performances hounding the Kings all night to set up the victory, leaving the Kings still winless against the Wildcats in 15 attempts since returning to the NBL for the 2010/11 season.

The Wildcats had the game in control already by the time Childress was ejected, though, and the major reason was the performance of Martin. He completely blanketed the Kings' other import Kendrick Perry and hindered everything Sydney tried.

While Martin set the game up and despite DeAndre Daniels limited to seven points in 20 minutes because of foul trouble, the Wildcats had plenty of offensive weapons with Jermaine Beal scoring 16 points, Wagstaff 15, Shawn Redhage 12 and Matt Knight 10 (eight rebounds, five assists). Earnest Ross also had an impact for the first time this season with seven points off the bench.

Wildcats coach Trevor Gleeson was delighted with Perth's stifling defence.

"I thought we were outstanding and defensively really got after it in the first half, and to hold them to four points in that first five minutes set the tone for the game. The good part is that it's the first time that we came out of the blocks well," Gleeson said.

"We were pretty average coming out in the first two games and that was more of the Wildcats coming out and being aggressive."

Sydney might have started positively in the first two minutes with four points to Madgen, but the stifling defensive of Martin then kicked in for Perth and with Sydney's ball handlers, particularly Perry, struggling, the home side went on a 10-0 run.

Cadee did provide a spark with seven points in 43 seconds for the Kings off the bench while also offering a steadying hand running the points, but another 7-0 run saw the Wildcats lead by double-figures before a four-point play to Ellis saw him earn his first points playing in the NBL in Perth.

The Wildcats then further put their foot down to open the second quarter firstly with five points to Wagstaff and then a strong three-point play to Ross.

That saw the lead for Perth stretch out to 17 points and despite Childress trying to keep the Kings in the contest with eight second quarter points, the Wildcats' defence wasn't allowing Sydney to function and the home team had too many weapons to be up by 18 at the break.

The result was effectively decided throughout the second half with the Wildcats' lead remaining around the 20-point range before finishing at 21.

However, it was far from dull with the ejections of Childress and Madgen with the attention also turning to whether Martin could accomplish a remarkable triple-double but he fell one rebound, one steal and two assists short.

The Kings now return home to play the unbeaten Cairns Taipans next Saturday night while the Wildcats hit the road for the first time against Wollongong on Friday night.
