Henry and partners Wayne Crane and Jamie Mitchell were beaten 22-15 in the championship decider by Taren Point’s Murray Chapman, Jake Chapman and Craig Donaldson.
It was the third final for Warilla in the eight disciplines, after Geoff McGillivary won the over 60s Senior Singles and Jamie Nabbe took out the President’s Reserve Singles for lower grade bowlers.
The Warilla triples team came from two down on the final end of their semi-final against Ben Twist (St Johns Park) to win 25-24 on the second extra end.
Down two shots on the last end, Henry came within a whisker of making three shots with his final bowl.
‘‘It just dropped out. We looked like losing, then looked like winning, only for it to be a tie,’’ Henry said.
‘‘The first extra end was killed and we won with a shot on the second extra end. It would have been good to go one better but it wasn’t meant to be.
‘‘The wind got up in the final and made it tough. We got close but just couldn’t pull it off. But getting to the final in this company is no mean feat.’’
Henry had three cracks at the State Championships Finals but had little luck in the pairs and fours.
He and partners Jamie Mitchell, Mat McIntyre and Aaron Teys were beaten on the final bowl of the match in the opening round of fours, after rival skip Brent Norman from St Johns Park played a ‘‘bomb’’ to take the match 19-17.
Norman and partners went on to win the fours championships.
In pairs, Henry and Wayne Crane were also beaten 18-11 by North Haven’s Ron Davis and Danny Barrett in round one, with the Zone 14 team making the final.
